Federal prosecutors from the US Justice Department and the Criminal Investigation Division of the EPA have charged Seattle-based electronics recycler Total Reclaim with conspiracy to commit wire fraud for falsely claiming to their many customers-including the City of Seattle, University of Washington, and a consortium of electronics manufacturers-that they never exported hazardous electronic waste to developing countries. For their fraud, practiced for many years, they are expected to plead guilty on Friday and will be sentenced in February.
