Cascade Asset Management Addresses Digital Equity
/The Digital Divide continues to impact poor and rural communities where access to affordable high-speed Internet, quality computer equipment, and digital literacy is lacking. Over the past two years, Cascade Asset Management, an e-Stewards certified processor headquartered in Madison, WI, has partnered with DANEnet, a local non-profit engaged in promoting Digital Equity in the community, to address these concerns.
Cascade collects computer equipment for asset disposition from business clients and sets aside a portion of their items for donation to DANEnet, while the remaining items are resold to provide sustainable financial support for the program. So far, more than 400 computer systems have been refurbished, loaded with Windows 10 and anti-virus software, and delivered to low-income households in Dane County who have completed computer training classes through DANEnet.
