The requirements of the European waste equipment directive, according to which manufacturers have to finance the collection and recycling of the equipment they put on the market, also apply to exported used equipment. This is what EU Environment Commissioner Virginius Sinkevicius said in a response to a question from Dutch MEP Jan Huitema.
